Woggly Woggles is one of the only companies that specialises in custom 3D-printed items for Scouts and Guides. As such it is important to us that the process and benefits of 3D-printing is understood.
Woggly’s 3D-printers work by melting a plastic filament and, by extruding it through a tiny nozzle, gradually build up a 3-dimensional object layer-by-layer. This process is known as Fused Deposition Modelling or FDM and is a type of additive manufacturing – where material is added as opposed to removed such as when whittling a marshmallow stick. This process enables us to create a huge and varied range of objects very quickly and simply and is why we are able to offer fully customised woggles and other products.
For the first few years, Woggly used a Creality Ender-3 Pro which served stoically for four years – though it required a lot of maintenance.
In September 2025, however, Woggly’s manufacturing arm received a massive upgrade in the form of a Prusa Research Core One. This much more modern and complex printer enables us to print more woggles, more quickly and with even higher standard of quality and durability. Thanks to the built-in camera you can even receive a time-lapse of your woggle being made!
All left-over plastic filament and woggles that don’t pass quality control are collected and recycled.
